Max Homa Hits Record-Breaking Drive at The Sentry Tournament

Homa's Colossal Shot Enters Golfing History

Longest Drive Ever in PGA's ShotLink Era

Max Homa made a thunderous statement during Saturday's third round of The Sentry Tournament in Hawaii, claiming the title of the PGA Tour's "biggest bopper." On the par-4, 525-yard seventh hole, Homa unleashed a tape-measure drive that soared an astonishing 477 yards, leaving an unforgettable mark in golf history.

Homa's titanic shot surpassed the previous record set by Davis Love III in 1983, also at Kapalua's downhill par-5 18th hole. The ShotLink era, which has tracked driving distances since 1983, witnessed the previous longest drive of 476 yards by Love.

While Homa may not be known for his raw power off the tee, his colossal drive on the seventh hole was a testament to his exceptional talent. The 477-yard bomb entered the history books as the longest official drive ever recorded in the PGA Tour.

Interestingly, the par-4 seventh hole at Kapalua has proven to be a hot spot for long drives. Luke List holds the record for the longest drive on a par-4 hole with his 459-yard effort, also achieved on the same seventh hole. This week, 54-hole leader Chris Kirk recorded a 428-yard drive on the par-4.

Homa's record-breaking drive not only earned him accolades but also highlighted the rising level of power and athleticism in the game of golf. It will undoubtedly be a cherished moment in the history of the PGA Tour.
