Al Horford signs with Celtics
Granting a veteran leadership and versatility to Boston's Frontcourt
Deal valued at $19.5 million per year
Al Horford has agreed to a two-year, $19.5 million contract with the Boston Celtics, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The deal includes a player option for the second year.
Horford, 33, is a five-time All-Star and has been one of the most consistent players in the NBA over the past decade. He averaged 13.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game last season with the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Celtics are hoping that Horford can provide some much-needed veteran leadership and versatility to their frontcourt. He is a skilled post scorer, rebounder, and passer, and he can also defend multiple positions.
Horford's signing is a significant addition for the Celtics, who are looking to bounce back from a disappointing season. They finished 49-33 last year and lost in the second round of the playoffs to the Milwaukee Bucks.
